Why would University students celeberate and cheer for 100 girl personal decision to wear Hijab in the university?

As Hijab is a personal religious duty, where it does not reflect ethics or student relationships and role in the uni; it should not be a university matter to salute personal decisions espicailly in a uni like al hashmieh where Musilms vs chirstians conflicts and groups are the most.

I studied in Jordan uni, haressments were not an ekhwan thing, it was against political streams that function against the uni or the government official stand, el ekhwan the other way around were at leasted granted some freedom when compared to leftist movements and actions.

Thanks for sharing this Ahmad.
Laila--I don't think the group is going to force anyone to attend. Any university would likely include student groups that span various ideologies, interests, and activities. Who ever would like to attend them is welcome, whoever doesn't, that's their choice. But to prevent one group from holding such an event simply because the administration doesn't agree with their ideology is the most obvious example of lack of freedom of expression in Jordan, especially on campuses. If this organization wants to celebrate those 100 girls, why not? Nobody is going to force anyone who doesn't want to attend to do so.
The point is, when you prevent one group, it creates a precedent for preventing other groups from holding their own events.

Every group should be allowed to hold their events and only prevent those groups that advocate violence, hatred, and such from holding their events.

Maria: I have deleted your comment, for many reasons:
1. it was relevant to the content of the post.
2. it is a kind of promotion for your blog.
3. your blog's content is not the type I prefer to encourage.

laila: welcome,

I'm totally with you in that.

The celebration there was planed by those girls' friends to encourage and support them, and I can't find what is wrong with that.

espicailly in a uni like al hashmieh where Musilms vs chirstians conflicts and groups are the most.
I can tell that there is no kind of conflict between Muslims and Christians in the Hash. univ.
if you think that Christians will feel bad about such a celebration, then you are wrong.

I totally agree, but taking about the Hashemite univ. El Ekhwan are the most (if not only) effective stream.

el ekhwan the other way around were at leasted granted some freedom when compared to leftist movements and actions.
I really don't know the situation at Jordan univ., but what you are saying is supporting my opinion that Universities are trying to eliminate the role of students.
Thanks for commenting.

moi: welcome, and thanks.
